Depends on if you are reading of His earthly description (Isaiah 53, i think) or of His heavenly appearance (Revelations). Very few Christians believe that Jesus was white.

Jesus was Jewish and lived in the middle east. He would have looked like many Israeli men do today. In other words, tanned skin, brown or black wavy hair, blue or brown eyes. He would have been seriously gorgeous. Israeli men are sooooo fit!

In those descriptions all those things are symbolic. Bronze? Shining in glory. White ... purity, authority etc.

Forget about what they did with him in art. Of course they were eurocentric and that is understandable. They painted what they knew. I'm not certain any of these artists ever had a chance to meet a middle eastern person. Just a thought.

The bottom line is that his skin color didn't matter than and doesn't matter now. It was his shed blood that saved us, not his skin.

only once have I ever seen a statue of a Jesus in a church with a dark complexioned skin and a Mary to match, it was really nice to look at like yeah, what person with no common sense decides to make a statue of Jesus or Mary with white skin and light brown hair.... he wouldhave had really dark hair and a long dark beard too no?
