hairsray and gel do make this lil' white stuff, its like glue. It stuck to your scalp, try washing it with head%26amp;shoulder shampoo then if its not coming off, go to the doctor if he has anything for that. But I think shampooing your hair will prevent it.

its the hairspray. eventually, it will dry and start falling out if you don't wash it soon enough. But it really depends on the brand

It is probably just product build up from the hairspray and gel. If it is it will wash out. Try different products and see if you still have it. Panteen hair spray does that to me.

Sounds like you have product build up. Try to get a clarifying shampoo to dissolve the product built up. You may want to have your parents take you to a doctor to make sure it is not lice. Good luck.

That white stuff is residue from the products you use that have dried out on your hair. Why don't you shampoo your hair and start fresh without using so much gel.

no dont use head n shoulders. you might want to get T-gel. kids around ur age get the same thing u are talking about.neutragena T-gel usually helps with that stuff.

Sometimes if you straighten your hair too much it'll get damaged and you'll start to have split ends and when you have black hair you can see the places where they split which probably is the white stuff... Or sometimes when you put hairspray and gel it'll dry and have Little white flakes.

I would say that more than likely it is the residue build-up from the gel and hairspray. If you use these items frequently you need to wash it out of your hair more often.

it sounds like it's the gel and hairspray dried in your hair and getting flaky. try puting get on WET hair and brushing it in so that doesn't happen good luck!

Maybe you use to much hairspray and gel. It might get stuck in your hair!! The first thing you do is give your hair a nice wash or 2 to help you!! Then wash it every week if you are going to put hairspray and gel to get the white stuff out!!

it could just be product build up on your scalp and hair...use a clarifying shampoo ( found in almost all brands). this will strip all the product build up out.

Also, you could have oily scalp which many people get confused with dry scalp. Oily scalp will not flake as dry scalp does but will cause a whitish build up at the scalp, in this case you need a good clarifying shampoo as well and don't put conditioner right at the scalp- you don't need it there anyway since the natural oils from your scalp will help that part of your hair anyway. It is the hairspray and gel that is flakeing off of your head. To prevent this, leave your shampoo in your hair for several minutes, rinse and repeat. Do the same with the conditioner. Wash your hair daily, but do the rinse and repeat thing three to four times a week. You should see a difference.

Two probabilities: first, gel and other styling aides create build up on the hair which regular products can't remove. To clarify (deep cleanse) your hair try Neutrogena's Anti-Residue Shampoo, but not daily too often will cause damage; 1-2 times weekly should be enough.

Second, thick hair doesn't allow air and humidity to get to the scalp. You could also just have dry scalp which will cause itching and flaking (this is not dandruff). For daily maintenance try Dove's Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner.
