I end up with a slight tan because I'm either playing golf or working outside in the yard. I'm very happy with who I am. I do dye my hair, but it's to cover up the gray and get rid of the blond that appears when I'm in the sun.

I hate to burst your bubble here, but we don't do any of that to "look more ethnic". I personally only highlight my hair, since I like being a brunette, and I tan because I don't like being so pale during the summer. I tan easily, but it's not hard to burn either, so if I can start the summer off with a good tan, I don't have to worry about getting burned later.

As for the pussycat doll trend, I think you should be raising hell to those who promote it, not those who buy into it. Unfortunately, women are doing what they think (and I use that term lightly) they're expected to be doing. Are females the majority of top executives of corporate America making decisions about how young males are expected to present themselves to society? No, quite the contrary. I think everyone tries to inhance themself in a way that they feel makes them more attractice black or white. I dont think pale skin is attractive but I m black so I dont have to worry about burning my skin while tanning Yaaaay. Everyone has something that makes them beautiful we all want to make that stand out! I think some people of other races want to be black but not most, everyone should be happy with how God made them!

I somewhat agree..some people are not happy with the way they look so they do a complete turn around using makeup, hair dye, clothing etc..but that doesn't mean every girl who dyes her hair and wears makeup and tans(i.e me) wants to be a different ethnicity nor does it mean shes fake or trying to hide something. (I do afmit I did want to be hispanic for a while, but I never tried to look like them, and I'm happy the way I am now) Makeup is meant to enhance what women already have. for example mascara, eyeliner, is all meant to bring our your womens natural eye colour and to make them stand out more, its not fake. hair dye can also be used to enhance your natural hair colour or to change your hair to the way it was when you were a child (the time when it probably looked best) Hair for women can make or break her self esteem. hair has long been known to be a huge part of a women's sexuality and dyeing it can simply make her feel more feminine. I dye my hair partly due to my moods. I want to feel lighter and happier during the spring and summer so I usually go blonde (my natural colour as a child) but during the fall and winter I'd rather darken it up to a light brown if not ash blonde. it really has nothing to do with fitting it...its all personal. and tanning...I love the sun, I don't overdo it but I think I look much healthier, and toned with some colour on my skin. and yes I agree that far too many women these days are trying to be 'more youthful' (pussycat dolls) but just end up looking ridiculous...but don't think we're all like that.
